Q What do you do?
Q What steps did you take to get to where you are now?
My path has been a mix of education and hands-on experience. I studied Communications and Marketing in university, which gave me a solid foundation. From there, I worked at a variety of start-ups where I had to wear many hats—this really honed my versatility. I followed that up with an intensive graphic design program and shortly after, made the move from Montreal to Los Angeles. Here, I dived into roles at multiple tech companies specializing in technology, luxury goods, wellness, beauty, and fashion. All these experiences taught me the tips and tricks that I now use to empower small businesses through my own small business, Hayda Studios.
Q How do you stand out in your field?
We’re kind of like a Swiss Army knife for small businesses—your one-stop shop. Whether it’s branding and identity, building a website, content creation, or marketing through email and social media, we’ve got everything you need to get your business off the ground and thriving. It’s all about making the process seamless and tailored to your unique needs.
Q What are you working on right now?
I’m currently balancing a web design and development project for a Real Estate company, crafting some fun graphics for a Paris Fashion Week event, and staying on top of my retainer clients. It’s a lot, but I love the variety—it keeps me creatively charged.
Q What’s your style?
I have a lot of different influences, which means my style can vary depending on the project. I enjoy blending different elements to create something unique, but I always aim for designs that are clean, modern, and purposeful.
Q Out of all your slashies, which one do you wish you could do more often?
I’d love to dive deeper into packaging design. While digital design is fantastic, there’s something incredibly rewarding about creating a tangible product that people can hold and interact with. It’s a different kind of connection.
Q What is frustrating you right now?
Content creation and self-promotion are definitely challenging for me. I love telling stories for my clients, but when it comes to my own work, it’s tough to find the time and energy. It often ends up being the task that gets pushed to the bottom of my list.
Q If you could hire someone for $20/hour, what would you have them do to make your day easier?
I’d hire someone to help with operations and someone to manage our social media accounts. This would include gathering important information that I don’t have time to look for, like early-bird registrations for design competitions, event prep, and finding courses that could help me stay ahead in the industry. It would free me up to focus more on the creative work that I’m passionate about.
Q What do you wish you could have told yourself, when, and why?
I’d tell my younger self to trust in my intuition and not stress too much about grades. University is about so much more than academics—it’s about building connections, trying new things, and enjoying the process. I’d also remind myself to travel more, stay curious, and not be afraid to fail. Find mentors on your different journeys. Every experience is valuable, even the challenging ones.
Q If you could talk to an expert to gain more insight on something, what would it be about?
I’d love to chat with an expert about investing and the latest design technologies. It’s always fascinating to learn how new tools and methods can enhance my work and make my process more efficient.
I'd also love to learn 3D & Blender!
Q What kind of opportunities/projects are you looking for?
I’m interested in projects that involve Branding, Web Design and Development, Print and Digital Design, Packaging Design, and really anything design related!
I’m definitely drawn to 360° branding projects—those that require a comprehensive approach to bringing a brand to life across various media. I’m also excited about exploring new industries that aren’t yet in my portfolio, like skincare, wellness, fashion and technology.
Q Describe your ideal job/client/collaboration.
My ideal clients are those who value collaboration and have a clear vision for their projects, but are also open to creative exploration. I thrive in partnerships where communication is key, and where there’s a shared commitment to creating something truly special. I approach brand projects with a strategy-first mindset, and I love involving clients in the creative process through workshops that help evolve or revolutionize their brand. Transparency is crucial—I want my clients to feel comfortable sharing their limits, so we can push boundaries together in a way that feels right for them.
Q: What is your rate?
Budgets can vary based on the project’s scope, complexity, and specific needs. I’m always open to aligning with the client’s objectives and timeline to find the right fit.
I’m also committed to working with non-profit organizations, offering discounted rates to help them achieve their goals.
Q How should someone approach you about working together?
I’m always excited to hear about new projects! You can reach out via email at hello@haydastudios.com or fill out our form at haydastudios.com/contact. I’d love to learn more about your project, and if you have a timeline and budget in mind, that’s always helpful.
Q Who is a creative you admire?
I’m inspired by Elise Rigollet, an art director based in Paris. Her work has a modern flair but retains that classic Parisian elegance. Eric Chu, known for his work at SSENSE and Nike, is another big inspiration—his approach to design is innovative and influential. I also admire Griffin Funk, a designer from the Bay Area, whose work feels deeply personal and emotionally resonant.
Q Oh! and… how do you stay creative?
Staying Creative, a haiku: My community. Going outside, reading books. To the exhibits.
