Shopify 2.0: A Retail Architecture Built for Scale

REV Skin & Wellness carries eleven professional-grade skincare brands — each with its own retail requirements, customer intent, and in some cases, strict restrictions on how products can be sold. We structured the full catalog taxonomy, organizing the store simultaneously by brand, product type, skin concern, and skin type. The result is a shopping experience that mirrors how customers actually think about their skin, with the navigational depth of a specialty retailer.

Not every product could simply go in a cart. We engineered two custom purchasing flows to meet each brand's requirements while keeping the experience seamless for the customer.

Requesting access to Osmosis MD

Osmosis MD is a professional-only line that requires a skin consultation before purchase. Rather than directing customers off-site, we built a custom access request flow directly into the store. A "Request Access" button triggers a popup form with pre-consultation questions; when submitted, responses go straight to REV's team. Once Katherine confirms the products are a fit for that customer, the account gets tagged in the backend. From that point forward, tagged customers see and shop the full Osmosis line when logged in — no workarounds, no friction.

Selling Skinbetter Through Your Online Store

Skinbetter Science requires all online sales to route through each practitioner's branded portal — meaning the spa loses a percentage of every transaction to commission. We built two solutions to keep REV's revenue intact. First, we added the full Skinbetter line to the store with the standard add-to-cart replaced by a "Buy Through Skinbetter" button, linking directly to REV's unique affiliate URL for each product. Second, we integrated a Reserve In Store app as an alternate checkout path: customers can request products directly through the store, which auto-creates their account and a draft order in the Shopify backend. REV then sends a branded invoice with a direct checkout link — and the customer completes the purchase through Shopify as they normally would, keeping 100% of the sale in-house.

Beyond The Studio

The REV brand extends further than most. When Denver café Homecup approached Katherine to collaborate on a custom smoothie, the packaging needed to hold up alongside the brand we'd built. We designed the cup sleeve and label — carrying the REV identity off the treatment table and into everyday life.
